That’s a very good question. SSAS is the oldest form of pension in the UK today, having been established in 1973.

As with many pensions and changes in legislation, it has obviously altered considerably over the years. With the changes that came in 2015, which removed the charges to death benefits, SSAS really came into its own and is probably the best pension in the UK today.

It would be fair to say that the IFA and Financial Services community have not really picked up on SSAS a great deal and probably preferred to stay with SIPPs because they’re regulated by the SCA. Whereas, SSAS is regulated by HMRC and The Pensions Regulator.

SSAS is a great opportunity for your SME clients and we don’t think it’s one you can ignore. Find out more about SSAS and its many benefits in our SSAS Video Hub or book a call to speak with a member of our team.
