Do All the Directors Need to be Members of the SSAS?
The short answer is: no. However, when setting up SSAS all Directors of the Company do need to be advised that the SSAS is being set-up.
For example, husband and wife working for the Company would be members of the SSAS.
Where Directors are not related, we suggest that an individual SSAS is the best option as each Director will have their own agenda in terms of investment, when they want to retire and take benefits etc.
Therefore, not everyone needs to be a member, but everybody does need to know that you are setting up the SSAS.
We find SSAS is not designed for employees, although it is open to other workers. SSAS is very much the Directors pension scheme.
